Hi folks,
can't find my keys..
I have a spare ignition key though. (Doors and ignition are a different key, probably ignition has been replaced at some point...)

Does anyone know if the code for the keys is on any of the door lock barrels??

(If it is I can probably use the code to get a new key cut for the doors... instead of having to replace the locks.)

Cheers
Andy.

is it the chubb type locks? keys spikey on the end? (hard to describe what i mean)

if it is there is usually a code on the lock barrel. this isnt the key code but it can be converted into the key code. it involves adding a number to each digit and transposing some numbers.

must be at least 8 years since i last did it so i cant really remember. best get the number, then find an older storesman at your local ford dealer. ford stopped fitting chubb locks in the late 80s.

hope to help

If you take the lock off the door, a good locksmith will be able to strip the lock and make a new key to fit the tumblers.

If it has the ford type locks fitted then you will not need to remove the locks, a mobile locksmith can cut the key, he will have a tool that is put into the lock and allows him to then make a copy of the key.

Also if its fitted with the ford type immobilizer he can retrieve the code and prog it to a new transponder key
