Not a nice thing to have to find. Mind you, earlier I ran into a car, roads still a bit slippery, not much damage though thankfully, just a ding along the back do......... where did you say this happened?

Its never nice when someone prangs your car.

But check this out, someone ran into my girlfriends 05 plate MG TF in the snow a week ago last saturday just gone, the body shop provided a courtesy car but only for a week, today the blokes insurance company rang her and said your courtesy car is being picked up today but don't worry as we have organised a replacement !!!

Turns out its only a 60 plate E class Merc convertable on hire from europcar, the bodyshops busy so her car won't be ready till new year.

Happy days :D :D :D :D :D

result, why not ring up the body shop and say(plead)with them THAT theres no rush, anytime late next year will do,

my sister in law was hit by a van whilst on holiday on the isle of wight a few years ago. The vans insurance paid to have the car sent back from the isle of wight to stockport to be fixed, gave them a hire car (peugeot 307 estate) so they could complete their holiday then swapped this for a Nissan Navara 4x4 when they returned home which they had for just over 6months while their car was being repaired - the accident had bent the chassis of their car and how the insurance company didn't write it off i'll never know!

Spoke to the bodyshop on friday, manager said they cannot source the parts to repair it so it will be quite likely they'll write the car off, all it needs is a rear bumper and a rear slam panel (the bit between the rear lights), '05' one previous owner, history, 35,000 miles, comes with hard top too. Whats it worth? Parkers guide says one thing yet you see them for sale at 1 to 1.5k more.

Anyone want to buy it? ;)

If the insurance company writes it off, it's not yours to sell. Try finding out which salvage yard it's going to and you might be able to buy it from them. But it might be up for an on-line auction.

I understand that but i was asking whats it worth to try and get an idea what they'll offer us hence why i looked at the parkers price guide.

I'm also aware we could buy it back from them but that would largely depend on what they wanted for it and the cost of repairing it using ebay parts + labour

Make sure you don't sign for a hire car! Hire and courtesy are two different animals
Someone bumped mine early this year and I was offered a replacement car which I thought was a courtesy car and it turned out what I signed for was a hire car
Ended up in court with a £4000 bill
Just don't get caught out ;)
