hi all, i have a indesit fridge freezer model number BAAN 10, it is in a very cold garage but as stopped freezing, can you tell me if it is because it is in the garage the unit is only about 18month old, cheers mick

It sounds curious but freezers don't work in cold areas!
Put it in a warmer place and it'll come back to life.

thanks for the speedy reply burnerman, this might sound abit daft to ask but what if i covered the unit in cloth sheets would that work to get it warmed up, cheers mick
I've never tried that one Mick but I would want the compressor to ventilate really - and eventually the insulating sheets would get very cold too.
The trouble is, the freezer needs to extract heat from the contents inside, and then transfer this heat to the coils on the back. The coils can't cool because its already too cold - if you can follow this particularly useless explanation!

thanks for the speedy reply again john, what i`ve done is put it inside in a old bedroom to see if it comes back to life if it works great if not i`ll sling it away, p.s don`t think the wife is going to be too impressed when she comes home from shopping to find what i`ve done , cheers mick
