Looking for a good brand gloss to use, I've used Dulux one coat but didn't find it very good, seems to go yellow after a few months, Didn't know if to go for the Dulux trade gloss or Crown Gloss?

What would you recommend?

Yes, apply it to the knots on the new timber, it stops the resin bleeding through the paint, you did say the skirtings were new (bare) wood right ?.

Since they lowered the solvent content in the 2010 gloss paints they seem to yellow very quickly, the only one that I've found that doesn't is crown solo. This is backed up by the which magazine when they tested these paints in july this year.

Ah right, I'll stick to the Crown then, how about undercoat and primer, Shall I use that in Crown aswell or Dulux? Also what knotting paint should I use as I never used it before.

Stick with crown, you can get a quick drying primer (water based) and then use the trade undercoat.

Allow to dry overnight and then lightly sand down with wet and dry paper.

Clean off with dry lint free cloth and then apply one coat of crown gloss, ( i would use trade gloss) but solo gloss will be fine.

I have used other paint gloss too and faced the same problem. I think as time passes paint gives a sign of yellowish tinge. So it should be better to repaint it after certain interval of time.
