I need to know at what temperature my boiler thermastat is set to. Any help would be appreciated.

I think you need a digital thermometer with a contact probe. Available from RS or Maplins.

One wonders exactly WHY you need to know this!

Tony

Thanks for your prompt reply Tony.

I am considering installing an aqualisa quartz shower and the maximum temperature of the hot water inlet should not exceed 65 degrees centigrade.

Do you have a thermostat on your hot water cylinder? if not then fit one and problem solved.

No I don't have a thermostat on my hot water cylinder. Are these easy to install?

I'm betting that you have a gravity HW and pumped CH system on your netaheat, so no motorised valves or proper controls at all. If this is the case you would be better off converting to fully pumped, in fact if someone comes in to do some work to your system it is illegal for them not to convert it all so it's compliant with part "L" building regs, or so I was taught.

Can't see it happening though ...

Thanks artfulbodger - you are correct about my system and obviously know your stuff! Is there a way round my problem without converting the system?

Illegal AB thats a new one   maybe in corgy's dreams

Hi doitall, I was told on my part L course that this was the case - I was dubious myself - nothing to do with corgi though. Maybe I got it wrong and it only applies to boiler swaps?

Just connect your HW live from your programmer to your new cylinder stat and use the new switched live to fire the boiler.

nothing to do with corgi though.

It is to do with corgi though as i found out this week.

we have been notifying corgi since april 1st this year

corgi guy carried out random check on one of our installations this week, and although he found no faults gas safety wise, he rang me from site to say our engineer had missed fitting a trv on one of the radiators (as per part L )

He said that if i could send an engineer to fit trv that day, then he would not issue a building control defect notice

so anyone unsure who is going to police part L theres your answer
