I used carpet shampoo and wash carpet by hand.

Leak detection fluid........always worked for me
If it's 100% spun polyester fibre carpet, as most are nowadays, then a mild solution of Stardrops cleaner and bleach will do it.
"Bleach" you say....polyester carpets are plastic, you can't bleach the colour from it any more than you could from a plastic washing up bowl!

It's surprising how many people will spray a stain without getting the worst of it up. Obviously it just smears it all over the shop. So it IS good advice whether you like it or not.
Yea OK Joe, fair enough. a little bit of elaboration would have helped, though.
