Dan, sadly it wasn't a roll top. A fairly basic Trojan bath. The sink and toilet were Ideal Standard Alto. Plumber did fit the bath before tiling bathroom and toilet and sink were fitted after wall/floor tiling done. The plumber seemed in a rush throughout the week as he had 2 jobs on the go.
I assume it is normal practice to keep a bath filled with water for 3 days - he did say the reason but can't remember - something to do with levelling??? It was annoying because tiler continued to clean his tubs whilst the bath was full of water and all that dirty gunge just sat in the bath for at least 3 days.

I got that wrong - the bath stayed full of this gunge for up to 5 days!

as dan says he may have forgot to connect it up outside. i was only pointing out if he was in a 'rush' and he knew that the tiler was going to be on site before he could connect it up then he may have connected this pipe to the bath so the tiler could tile around it nice and neatly. (common if bath is sliper or roll top with no bath pannel if there is a pannel to hide this then it makes little difference and pointless to fit unless you connect it up fully). i just didnt want to shot the guy down as there may have been reasons for this as mentioned above, just not normal or good practise.

Thanks barkie1. As previously said it was just a basic bath with a front panel only.

agreed dan just didnt want shot him down to bad but i agree seems he has just done enough. And when he has his money there's no real incentive other than his pride, word, or rep. Which lets face it as op has detailed seems he couldn't give a rats. Shame! Anyway maggie defo give him the opportunity to sort out the mistakes. Hope you get it sorted soon. Next time dont pay all up front. When materials on site i bill for them strate away. Then he big job payment on first fix completion and final payment on or within 14 days of final fix. Thats just how i operate this does vary from company to company. But its the fairest way for customer and contractor with payments.

Thanks very much. Your advice is much appreciated. Will give him opportunity to resolve matters. Wish all plumbers had your approach. Take care and thanks again.
