I'm replacing an old CH header tank with a 4 gallon Polytank from Screwfix. This is for an open vented CH system.

The old tank has mains feed, outlet, vent pipe and overflow (and no lid).

The new polytank comes with connections for the mains feed, outlet, and overflow, but nothing for the vent pipe. What do I need to buy to connect the vent pipe to the tank?

Also, as the new tank has a lid, does it need an air vent on the top somewhere?

I recently fitted a larger polytank header tank for our HW system and it came with both a breather and a means of connecting the vent pipe, but they're not in the 4 gallon tank kit.

All help appreciated

Haven't used this brand of tank, but I imagine that you will need to make a hole in the lid for the vent pipe to pass through.

If the vent pipe is too short to go through the hole, you will need to extend the pipe a bit.

yep thats correct, cut a whole in the lid for the vent pipe to go down through, stick an air vent on if you want but as you'll be cutting a whole in the lid you won't need one.

Okay dokey. Thanks for the help guys.

I think I'm going to fit another tank connector in the top next to the lid.

Couldn't find a breather like on the bigger tanks, but I guess this only has significant draw when the CH is being refilled, and it will vent through the overflow anyhow.
