hi there can anyone help my boiler had been fine only now i'm only getting hot water, if i turn the thermostat up past the click it doesnt kick in.
the boiler is a vaillient ecomax613/2e and on the satatus it comes up with s 30 which from what i gather means "No heating demand from external controls" its also shown "s o"= No heat demand (heating operation) does it mean its the thermostat not working properly.
any help would be appreciated
thanks
dan
just to update the boiler has gone through status, s2,s3,s4 and then s7 and the radiator symbol flashes tap symbol on and the round circle symbol stayed on for a short period if that helps

ecoMAX 6 series doesn't know whaether it is doing CH or HW.

You will have an external controls problem, probably the CH motorised valve.

If this is a separate 2 port unit the quick way to check is move the mechanical lever across and latch it open. If the Rads get warm when the HW is on then the motorised valve is the issue.

hi there i've done what you said and the rads are hot again, so i take it i need to replace that valve
thanks again for your help as my wifes stopped moaning now shes warm again lol
and is it a job i can do my self ?

you can just change the syncro motor in the valve head, easy to change and cheaper. isolate electrics and be safe, remove head cut 2 wires going to motor head close to the crimp fittings, remove fixing screw, strip wire and crimp on new motor.

hi again
sorry to be a pain but i've changed the syncro motor and yet the boiler stil havin the same problem ive tested the electric supply to the motor and thats all ok so im at a loss again
regards dan

Morris should have pointed out that it might not have been the motor at fault!

You should have checked to see if the motor was operating before you rushed in and wildly changed it.

There are cogs and a microswitch. Either may have failed, probably microswitch or even wiring. These faults need a test meter to identify properly.

Most just change the valve head.
