Plumbing aruond an IKEA kitchen

Hi all,
didn't seem to fit into the plumbing section or any other specific forum, so hope its ok in here.

Been busy prepping for a new Ikea kitchen install due 2nd week in March.
Seeing as the backs of the Ikea units seem to flush to the wall, how would you go about sorting all the plumbing out?
I'm wondering, rather that cutting out parts of the backs of the units it may be easier to clip the necessary pipes/fittings (dishwasher, washer bits) to the inside of the units backboards, as long as they aren't just 3mm hardboard.

Comments please?

You should move all pipework to below units. You question is difficult to understand, how could you clip pipework to back of cup's without cutting the back off? { and they are just thin hardboard}.

I think you got the jist of it foxhole, but as you said and i suspected the backboards are only thin hardboard so wouldn't work anyway.

So, i will be dropping all plumbing to below the units then just drilling through and coming up at the appropriate points for the taps.

As foxy says. Drop all services to about 100mm off the floor. Waste for the sink can be done after the units are in (straight through the back of the unit and through the wall. I do think it strange though that Ikea don't start supplying units with a service void though. The water pipes coming up through the bottom of the units looks very strange and can be a nightmare to plumb.
I did fit one some years back where the house owner had actually created a studwork against the wall and all plumbing was concealed within it . When it came to fitting the units there were two pipes sticking out of the studwork where the sink was going. Made it so much easier to fit.

Or you could purchase extra wide worktop to give you a void behind.

Don't forget extra wide end panels if you go for the extra wide worktops

As said keep low around 100mm, no higher than 150mm. ikea units fit flush to the wall (absolute pain in the backside) but have a void in the sink unit about 80mm to the back on the unit for the pipework to enter. So if you pop your two isolating valves up say 50mm form the wall around 200-250mm high you will be good to go.

I would advise checking all this out prior to be sure though

If you're plaster's thick enough you can chase the pipes into the plaster and put an elbow so it comes through the back of the unit in the right place.

I agree IKEA need to sort this one out, it's been p*ssing off kitchen fitters for too long!
