That is fecking abysmal.

I find it difficult to beleive someone who is truly qualified would leave a job in this aweful state, however nothing much surprises me anymore in this industry.

I have seen apprentices do better Jobs, and DIYers...

Firstly, what size are those Main Bonds, they look a little small in the image compared to the incoming tails. Secondly, the bond into the CCU is far too tight. There should be a gentle bend within the mechanical contraints of the cable. I would suggest this is corrected.

Why do you have TWO RCD's? I see one is time delayed and one is not, what are the ratings of these devices?

at least he did not suse a blow lamp to make a 1.0 T & E clip fit on a 6.0 T & E cable did he?

Hang on I`m going back to look again - you never know!

Why do they do such things? STARK RAVING MAD just the same as people who try to get rid of acne with sandpaper.

This was complete except for the Data Cables to the left that had to be fed into a CCTV Control panel still to be mounted and connected up.

 
Thanks for the useful comments on my DIY job, which I posted for comparison against the more <ahem> professional job - I guess I got off lightly so far (mind you I haven't felt Ban's hot breath on my neck yet.... :evil: )

FWL.... yes I think you and securethingy are right. I will redo the main earth bond into the CU with a curve or dog leg(?). Otherwise I am very sure the main bonding exceeds spec (particularly for TT supply), having pored quite extensively over the Guide (Ed 7) to the Regs (16th) and the OSG. (Mind you I will re-check. I wouldnt want to just dismiss your comment.)

My supply is TT, so I have a 100A 100mA delay type RCD (lights, freezer, CH) followed by a 63A 30mA RCD for all socket outlets.

Crafty....apologies for the semi-hijack. I thought it might be relevant.

Here's a bit of 'electricians advice'. Get him back to sort out that mess, or if like me after seeing that you wouldn't trust him to wire a plug for you, report his work to the niceic and get it looked at by someone competent.

mmm the rec tails look a little dodgy and it looks to me that thier are some exposed single cores between that metal box and the meter.
 
Nice to see an MEM board!

I hope the adaptable galv box below the credit meter is slotted - not 4 holes ;)
 
Why not put the cu in yourself that yopu have paid him to do if you are competent enough?

Plug, of course they are singles, it's a meter, those Singles are DI Tails from the Board (63A RCBO) and the cores of the SWA have been oversleeved with LSF sleeving, so there is nothing wrong at all with it.

Since that Phot was taken the Tails from the meter to the TP&N have been encased in 3x3 steel Galv Trunking as we were not happy with it. I have not been back to the Job to take a picture as yet though so simply used the one on file.


Lec, Yes it is slotted not 4 seperate holes. Regarding the Board, I always use either MEMshield or Merlin Gerin, depending on the application and the client. I even use MEM Memera Range for single phase boards where they are likely to be on show.

What is that installation for? And what rating are on the main service fuses? 100 amps per phase? Are the REC's tails actually brown? Never saw that before. What's the seperate meter for?

The Installation is a Hall attached to a church, The Service Head Fuses are 125A, The REC's tails are DI Brown, the new colours, and the secondary meter is for a Scout Hut that is located outside the Main Building and pays the Church for the electricity it uses. That is only a 63A single phase supply via the Three core SWA and backed up by a 63A 100mA RCBO.

Hacman, I would re-wire the consumer unit myself, if it werent for the permenantly live tails, i dont fancy pulling the fuse myself, and theres no isolator. Just thought, he could have used an isolator instead of that henley block, to extend the tails.

It is the HALL attached to a Chirch, not actually physically joined, but part of it. The reason the hall needs such a supply is due to the Kitchen, extraction, heating, Aircon and Stage Lighting/Power..

We needed the 3 phase to ensure loading was not excessive for the given supply, there is also outside car park lighting, the Scout hut supply and the main hall chandelier lighting..

Tis a LOT of Power..
