Hi,
Observations/comments/thoughts welcome.

Have Ideal Icos He24 which has now been installed just on 4 yrs.
Have always had a problem since about 2 months after installation with the odd rumble/gurgle/bang/yawn. This has never given any error code or shut down. Installers came back numerous times with pump change, igniter change,by-pass valve fitted and new pcb fitted. None of these have ever improved the fault. More pronounced in winter as system used more constantly.
The C/h and D/h/w have always actually worked very well and still do operate very well.
Condensate trap/drain is cleared and sump is very clear.
Have you guys came across this nuisance problem on your travels?
Have you encompassed any where maybe the heat exchanger external fins have clogged up a bit at the top near the burner thereby causing a restriction of the condensing water to travel and flow to the lower sump quick enough? Could this be causing the boiling/bubbling noise at times?

Just to reiterate all works fine except for the annpyance/sound effect!

Wouls really appreciate your experiences and thoughts.
Regards

inadequate flow rate passing through boiler, check pump head/speed, flow & return pipework sized correctly, dirt/sludge in system, incorrect by-pass/system balance.

Poorly fitted flue seal or incorrectly calibrated gas valve. an rgi would need to check those.

Is the system creating air??

TBH how do you expect anyone to guess what is wrong with your boiler on a forum when for several years you have had engineers actually in front of the boiler supposedly getting nowhere??

Check the ionisation probes have been changed to the new modified style, the old style are known to drop off and fall onto the heat exchanger

Ans......not creating any air.

There is a chance somebody has come across such a problem. Obviously the engineers who have worked on the problem have never actually pin pointed the cause of the spurious fault. That is where the forums are worth there weight in gold. By the way the system and operation of it works great and never shuts down to a fault code. There is sometimes even at the moment a slight background gurgle.

id leave it, its probably a circulation/balancing/boiler too high an output issue but if theres no faults and its operating correctly id forget it.
What size of pipes do you have at the radiators? im guessing this is an open vent system with tanks in the loft and it hasnt been pressurised? have you tryed leaving the boiler stat down at a low setting?
i fitted a new heat engine in one last week due to numerous faults but the new 1 even made clunking/banging etc noises

open vent type correct!
Boiler stat lowered tried that and thought it helped but still returned and not warm enough!....Have read Ideal Icos etc boilers seem to suffer quite a bit from this sort of spurious prob.
