We have some new fangled flushing system on our toilet that came with the house, basically it looks like some kind of vaccum set up where you push a button on the front of the cystern and air pressure operates some kind of diaphragm...sorry for the poor description, anyway just lately I've noticed a continual dripple into the pan...not much but it does seem to be increasing, I'm guessing somethings worn out but don't have a clue where to start diagnosing....does anyone know of this type of system and have any idea where the fault might lie?...thanks

The rubber sealing washer on the bottom of the flush valve is not sealing fully.
either scaled or the washer has deformed with age.
need to know what flush valve you have to obtain new seal if needed.

Not sure how to identify the flush valve, I can get the top off the cystern but it is actually enclosed in a cabinet so I cant get a good view inside to see how to get access to it or get it apart...big job to take the top of the cabinet off as the sink is also recessed into the top of the cabinet....looks like a nightmare job!

oops! Sorry about the large size but hopefull it will show what I have.

First thing - the water level in the cistern looks a bit high. That can cause the excess water to run down the internal overflow, and trickle down the back of the pan.

The water level is usually adjusted by turning the fill valve float arm ( top of your picture, behind the flush valve, with the corkscrew thread around it).

Aim to set the water level at the marker moulded on the back of the cistern.

Thanks TicklyT, I'll take a look at that although I think the high water level is probably from me bashing the float with my camera when trying to get a decent shot of the internals!
Does that whole assembly just come out of the cystern...easily?
