POWER TO SHED

Ive constructed an oversized shed and now running in power.

I cant get access to the DB but can get access to the henley block, So was going to branch out of the henley block into a 60A Wylex Switch fuse and then from that to a new DB into my Shed.

Run 6mm SWA

The run is 40m

16 spot lights (LED 7WATT LIGHTS) (1.5mm radial)

6 sockets (2.5mm ring)

4 Dimplex duo 1.0kW / 1.95Kw radiators

Also considering installing a Sunbed but this is when i might have to up my cable from the switch fuse to the DB.

The sunbed company recommend a 16mm going to a rotary isolator from my DB on a 63a breaker.


Need help asap, About to the order cable

You suggesting you may have a maximum demand of around 4-6 kw
over the length of 40m without the sun bed

Have you calculated the voltage drop over that distance bering in mind it has to be within 3% for a lighting circuit

I think your looking at a minimum of 10mm cable but who will sign this off
 
STOP AND THINK and calculate

You might also consider fire extinguishers and first aid kit when you by the cable

4 Dimplex duo 1.0kW / 1.95Kw radiators (2.5 ring)

That's 7.8 Kw which at 230 volts will draw 33.9 Amps. What size MCB will you fit.

I hope this is a wind up and not a serious attempt at DIY.
 
Infact its;

12 lights (LED 7WATT) 1.5mm (6amp)

6 Sockets - 2.5mm (32amp)

2 Dimplex 1.0kW / 1.95Kw radiators (What size cable would you recommend and what size breaker) but possibly 4

I understand that but i merely just want to run in all the cables myself

Any help would be great.
 
Also work out your maximum demand please as 2 possible 4 heaters on will only give you a 6mm possibly 10mm possibly 16mm cable.

What else are you powering on those 6 sockets

Im sure most sparks will let you do the donkey work of digging and laying the SWA as long as they can inspect it before you back fill

is what will be on the 6 sockets (3 doubles)

in regrds to the heaters, from the heaters themself they have a very small flex, wont it be a bugger to get 6mm into a spur unless i give them each there own radial.

Hard to believe i was an electrician apprentice for 3.5years, passed all exams and AM2 (Not done anything for 5 years) aint got no books or remember how to work out calculations etc :(

Percentage Drop 1.8% >3% as lighting is involved

Guys just had a word with the mrs and we now confirmed (NO BLINKING SUN BED)

3x DIMPLEX RADIATORS (Probably .075k) but would like to work calculation for the radiators @ 1.5k each (Each will be on there own radial)

12x spot lights (7watt led)

4x double sockets (radio/laptop/phone chargers/table light)

On my brief calculations all compliments to TLC - It says 6mm
 
When calculating the CSA of the SWA remember that the voltage drop due to non lighting loads will affect the lighting so the maximum voltage drop is limited to that for lighting even though the majority of the load is non lighting.
