Come on the user manual cant be that difficult.
Have you got the cables connected?
I would expect antenna in, scart or hdmi out to tv.
Then manual scan for channels.

If brought from a retail electronics shop then they usually offer a set up service, at of course a cost, their engineer should connect and explain the working of said equipment.

its a new tele 3 weeks old 32inch panasonic it has an hdmi output and my recorder is humax

Is it your humax recorder PVR with freeview? or freesat? and you want to use it to record from the tuner built in in your tv? correct? if so you don't need to as you can use the humax tuner it self to record from it's own tuner. Just like we used to do with the VCR back in the days and watch another ch on using the tv tuner.

HDMI should give a beter picture, you may have to selet that on the tv as an input, scart probably automatic.

HDMI it's present technology. SCART 80's 90's.... If you have both, just use HDMI...
and if you are writing to forums and using a computer you are not old!!!! I know people that are 21 22 years old that can't even turn a computer on....

Now connect your external aerial or satellite cable to the Humax and then the black cable that camed with the humax to the tv antenna input.

Now turn the humax + the TV on and press (usually it located at) top left on your TV remote control and select HDMI 1 or 2 or 3 or 4 (usually the tv will auto detect where is connected).

now got to the channel you want to watch on your humax. (hopefully you have tuned it allready) and press REC.

Let us know how you gettin on. ;)

i feel so stupid cant get my head round this at all. i can record and playback fine, but i cant use my remote for the tele keep getting a no signal message i suppose its something simple but i have been trying for 2 days now, this humax recorder is just what i needed,i wont be missing any fims while the wife watches her programmes.javascript:emoticon('')

Now this is a guess so could be wrong but the RF coax needs daisy chaining as well as connecting with SCART or HDMI for the TV to also get programs direct.

You don't give model of recorder so can't look it up. Some have in and out sockets for RF (Standard coax) others you need a booster splitter.

There should be three cables (not including power) to recorder. HDMI to TV. RF in and RF out.

There should be two cables to TV (not including power). HDMI and RF in.

Not tried to record with HDMI lead but I have with SCART lead from TV and Panasonic I have only one of the SCART sockets has an output. Although one is able to have TV in mode for recording LED is Yellow I found it to be a failure and did not work well. For me freeview is waist of time. It keeps wanting me to retune TV which means finding TV remote a real pain. So I have unplugged the terrestrial aerial and just use satellite and internet.
