I was recentley quoted £18000 for a new standard size garage door and a roof on my garage by Everest. i knew they would be expensive but jesus christ this was a pxss take.
They also told me it would cost 500 to remove the asbestos from the roof which to my suprise does not exist.
What kind of price should i be looking at?
Doors standard up and over 6ft by 7ft roofs 7ft by 18ft?

I suppose because the majority of houses have double glazing, and new builds already have it installed, the DG companies are competeing for a diminishing market. This has meant that they are diversifying into home improvements.

Someone down the road from me had 2 small flat roofs recovered with fibreglass by Anglian Home Improvements. To say it is a cowboy job is an under statement.

Where the roof covering folds over the roof edge, down onto the fascia, the levels are all out. Nothing is horizontal. One lip slopes down for most of the the fascia, then a joined on bit at the end slopes back up. As it's at the front of the house, its an eyesore.

Bet the owner paid well over the odds for this lash-up.

Have they come back to you yet with their 'special' 50% discount if you sign up today

My mate had anglian round, and was quoted £38,000 for all his windows (3 bed semi plus extension) in hardwood. After about an hour of negotiations, a few of the 'special discounts' were mentioned, the price dropped several times until the final figure of £17,000 (which he thought quite reasonable)

Needless to say he told them to sod off!

just had a garage pitched roof built 7ft by 27ft quoted £1800 finished price was £2700 of which i havent paid the extra, he blamed the cost of lead and steel for the price hike,

Your spelling and explanantion of a 6X7 door is nowhere near standard. But below many folks have given you prices sight unseen but Everest has been there and quoted a price. One idiot can get you a real piece of work (garage door) for $350 to $600. The last year I ever sold any door close to that price was in 1985 and that was a standard size door.8X7 and sold for $600. Who told you the asbestos does not exist because if it does this is a serious matter. This is an EPA regulation but I did not see anyone below ready to fulfill that license and diploma as well. Someone over the phone tell you it was not asbestos????? (A Federal Regulation). Realistically the door is under federal regulation to be dismantled under regulatory EPA standards. Not to get into this much further but a quality door with lifetime warranty is $1600 to $3200 standard 8 or 9X7 door. The roof may qualify for that price as well if you have an expert reguardless to whether it is asbestos or not. How many of you folks are even licensed properly to do the job? Please make note that there a dime a dozen number of folks who will create a problem for you and I feel that is the majority of those who struck down Everest price so quickly and threw out a price at you far below the primary price you recieved. These folks are those who may have been in business for years but at todays cost and the prices suggested below are definitely much too low to follow proper license, regulations and remain in business. This sets you up for fly by night practices and/or hack work. Make note that none brought up these facts but gave you a price sight unseen. You might want to get the guy with the helicopter to show up in one for a free estimate. I don't think he will. You see that is what separates serious business men from those who are a joke ,cheap and desperate. I don't think anyone here was serious.
