Advice on the 17th Edition Electrical test please anyone..

£850 for a 2382 course?

No wonder dingbat is never here if that's the going rate - spending all his dosh must take some time.

I wish. Considerably less than half that is more like it.

And we give you five days, as opposed to the normal three or four with a free resit if you fail. What mugs we must be.

I'm not absent because I'm spending, btw, I'm absent because I work unpaid on course prep, keeping up to date, practical assessments, washing up and keeping the place stocked with biscuits, etc! (This evening I was at the centre until 2145 - this week I will put in about 60 hours in front of students, Monday to Friday and I was there all weekend as well.) :(

Money for old rope, eh?

PM me your e-mail and I'll send it on.
If I could find how to pm here on DIYnot I'd take you up on that thanks mate. But I've looked at your profile, in my garage and down my pants, yet I still can't find your pm link.

This is the e-equivalent of the test I'm going to take! I've failed, I just know it!

I'm fumbling here, just as I know I will fumble like a nut on the test. If I can't find your pm on this site then what hope is there for me, and I'm pretty savvy on technical stuff! Hec, people often come to me with problems which I sort out!

I think maybe I'm just stressed and got myself all out of sorts.

Looks like I picked the wrong day to give up sniffing glue...

P.S. All I can see on your profile is a 'recent activity ' thing. Is that a PM on this board?.?.?.?

I'm opening another beer, so don't expect anything coherent from me for the rest of the night...

Tone your might have to request him as a friend to be able to PM him.
I have noticed on occasions when I wanted to PM someone I had ask to buds with them first.

BT, I've PM'ed you. (I couldn't find it either, had to enter your username manually!)

Have you gone in to your messages at top of page.
Click compose new message and enter EngStudent (not in a rude way!)
And compose your message and send.
Ps EngStudent I have just sent you message to see if your are contactable!

Well it feels a bit like saying to a hooker "will you be my friend before we get busy", but okay. :D

Right then, let's befriend someone...

I think I'm slowly getting the hang of this site, after a million years, with a little help from my friends

Yup, got it. I'd entered Tone's name manually.

Anyone slightly more observant care to tell us where the PM button is?

Tone if you scroll to the top it should say Messages (1).

Yeah, I'm getting there! I've just noticed you're in my inbox, if I can put it that way? ;)

I like the 'Carry On' stuff BTW :D

Give me a second guys, I'm trying to wind-down after a bad day over here...

Edit: Message, (PM), sent successfully. :)

Now I’ve really got to get off line before I start telling jokes about what the actress said to the bishop...

It took me a long time to work this out, too. It depends upon the 'Message Settings' of the person you want to send a message to - those Settings allow you to specify whether anyone can send messages to you, or only those who are your 'friends'.

What got me very confused were the messages (well, that's what they look like!), which clearly aren't private, in the Comments section in a personal profile. What happens if one clicks the 'message' button on one of those messages I'm not sure (never tried) - it probably sends a private message, but I'm not certain. There seems to me an almost complete absence of anything about messaging in the Help facilities on this site.

Kind Regards, John.

Yes John!

Without giving anything away, (and wary of major topic drift), a pm on other forums is pretty straight forward, easy - obvious even?

KISS?

Quite. One might imagine/expect that one would be able to click (maybe right click) on a person's name and get any option to send them a message - but perhaps that would be too easy?!

Seriously, though, I do wonder if there was a deliberate attempt to discourage PMs on this site, by making it not-very-obvious how one can do it!

Kind Regards, John.
