Remeha avanta plus 28c noisy

Hi all,
recently my boiler has started making a noise like a kettle coming to the boil when the central heating is on.the pressure is set to 1 bar when idle and it gets to 2.5 bar when heating is on,I've tried increasing the pump speed by altering parameter 21 to no avail.
can anyone help please.

Advise get the C/H system cleaned, probably muck in the heat ex.

Thanks a lot mate , I'm willing to try anything to stop this fault,
I wondered if it could be air trapped in the heat exchanger but the automatic air bleed valve would sort that out wouldn't it,unless it was screwed,but I don't know how to check it manualy.

No air is different noise anyway, Get some good sentinal or fernox cleaner and leave in a couple of week, drain and leave then after a couple of days do it again, no easy fix but it will be better,cant think of any other reason ,noise is hard to diagnose you need to hear it, hope that helps ta. Then put in inhibbitor to protect system.

A heat exchanger like the Giannoni fitted in the Remeha, with it's small waterways, is never going to be cleared that way.

Remehas are generally quiet because of their cheap plastic casing. Gas valves are a common problem on these and an incorrect air/gas mix can cause excessive noise. It is also potentially dangerous.

Suggest you get boiler checked over by a Gas Safe contractor possessing a flue gas analyser [FGA] (you can't check anything on a condenser without one, but they aren't mandatory until next year).

No one should be 'servicing' condensers without one, but they are..... I know of a large co in South London where they have about 20 engs without a single FGA between them.

Gas valves dont kettle noise, The guy said its more or less kettling and believe me i have been to alot of duo-tec and remeha that make kettling noises when getting upto temperature with muck in system, yes it maybe gas valve as well though ,like i said hard to tell not being on site,only trying to help.

Had this on one of these the other day. Was dirt not just in the system but the pipework too. Check the flow and return pipes aren't partially blocked. Try the copper pipes with a magnet to see if it sticks to them. I ended up cutting a load out and renewing.

How long has the boiler been installed?

Did the installer flush the system (chemicals with/without powerflush) before installing the boiler?

Do you live in a hard water area?

The water in my area is neutral accordind to the tests I did a couple of years ago,I don't get any "furring " (if that's what you call it) in my kettle,the boiler has been in for about 5 years now and has been serviced every year by proper people,as far as I can remember it was all flushed and treated when it was installed,
also one of the posters said that he had seen this problem of kettling while it was getting up to temperature , well this is all the time not just while it's getting to temp.
it is due for a service in a couple of months but I will bring it forward to get the gas valve or whatever it is checked out and will make sure they use one of those flue gas analysers.

Hi again all,
I've just been looking around the net for some ideas about flushing the system out,everyone seems to say youve got to use these machines which cost an arm and a leg and then fit these magnet things but do I realy need to do this because all the pipes in my system are that hep2o stuff , the only copper pipes are directly above the boiler and there is only about 6 inches of them showing before they run into the ceiling.
So would it be just a case of draining down and re filling a couple of times then running with that fernox in it for a week and then draining down and putting the inhibitor in and re-filling?
This is in addition to getting it serviced and the gas thing done.
I'm just trying to do as much as I can myself - I know you plummers are all very poor but so am I !!!!!

If you're poor as I am!

before you add anything else give this a go -
Empty the radiator in the usual way but instead of adding fernox just add a cup of washing up liquid.
It's an instant cure for boiler kettling noise (if that's what the problem is).

Oh , I should have said that it was a gas engineer friend of mine that did the pump speed for me but he didn,t have time to stay as he was just having a quick look on his way to another job and he won't be back untill next week.
