They will, you can't say for sure you will be asked a question on the exam paper, but the subject should be covered/revised.

I thought you didn't need to take the tests if you were qualified to NVQ level 2?

I think the fact 10 years has expired since the qualification has a bearing on that.
I think the cut off point is 2 years since qualified, but would have to check.
Edit
Looking at the info available online, it looks like if you have NVQ you can apply for a card but the level of qualification will depend on the card you can apply for.
But still looks like you need to sit a H&S test.

Ahh well, if you got common sense I'm sure you will be alright.
I think you are right
I saw a sample paper online and one of the questions went like this:
If you found a bottle, containing a chemical substance what would you do?
A) smell it
b) throw it in a bin
c) put it somewhere safe and report it to a supervisor
D) drink it

In the 8 Years that i have held a CSCS card NOT ONE site manager has wanted to see it!!!! on a Wimpey Site I went to I showed them my CSCS card (Gold) they told me they did not recognise the CSCS scheme so i had to sit through 1-1/2 hour induction, before being allowed into a completed house to do a 15 minuite warranty repair on an oil fired boiler!!
Complete waste of time IMHO!!

im city and guilds qualified(yep old git).
when i was on site there was a few of us who followed the work, and 1 chap (luckey bugger)looked rather young, good chippy but everytime the site agaent would asked him for proof of his qualifications,HE had it laminated just for this purpose

Cscs is just another scam invented by pencil pushers and boxtickers to improve deniabillity. If you have been on a new build site and seen how new houses are built these days, you know why.

A lot of the bigger builders do their own induction for H&S and once you have had that induction you are allowed on to all their sites.
As far as the CSCS cards are concerned, my understanding is, it is not a legal requirement according to the HSE to possess one to do site work. Unless the laws have recently changed and have missed somethiong. Just seems every tom, dick/harry thinks it is.

Its all well and good WE all know its a load of Bol##cks but yoy cant get a job on most building sites with out one.

You dont need one thats specific to your trade, so I dont know why they class it as a skills card
