Laying an engineered floor

Hi,

I am about to lay an engineered floor in my lounge.
I assume lengthways from the door to the french doors is the correct direction,
but where is the best place to start the first full board?

In from of the chimney breast?

Also, if anyone could recommend an underlay. Subfloor is 10 year old concrete screed that is dry and pretty good level wise.
