Marine ply will be expensive, 12mm interior plywood are ideal for pelmet & cheaper.

I think this is where I made my mistake, I got 6mm and it has warped.
will 12mm not be too heavy

use MDF its stable and cheep and you can staple stuff to it.

i agree 12mm mdf is the kiddie for this job ;)
also mdf dosnt splinter

MDF is 'orrid!!! Hate the stuff, totally characterless, nasty, yukky, etc. etc.........

I use pine boards for this type of thing, a bit of artistry (well, when compared to MDF)

End of rant........

yes its prity "dead" but its ideal for this sort of thing, wont see it and wont warp etc. Cuts easy, no grain to follow. Ive used it to paint on etc and its good for that.

Is your name also the village where you live ?

If so,try Darlington Timber Supplies,Albert Hill (off Haughton Road) for whatever material you choose.

Why spend a fortune on marine ply when it is going to be covered in fabric?
I agree about MDF.
The only use I have for it is making jigs or templates for my router because it cleans up smoothly.
If you really want a ply that wont come apart if it gets damp buy WBP (water-boil-proof) for a fraction of the cost.
