So now you know.....
However, if you are still in doubt, clean or renew all of the filters - the motor thermal cut out is operating because its getting a bit warm in there.
Nothing like a good blast of compressed air to really get the dust out....some machines have hidden filters too.
John :)

Ours has done exactly the same thing virtually since it was new 3 years ago; previous model was fine. Cleaning the filters &/or changing the bag usually works but, similarly, not with the latest bout & I’m wondering if it’s down to the new box of (genuine OE) bags she’s just opened. I'll try blasting compressed air through the motor but it’s a PITA & if it’s not careful, it’ll end up in the skip.

After yet another bout of tripping & more moaning by the wife, I decided to let the compressed air hose loose on it & in the process discovered yet another filter that’s not immediately obvious. If you remove the bag, you will see a small circular sponge filter around the outside of the bag nozzle housing just visible through the slot. To gain access, you need to remove the cover which connects the hose onto the back of the nozzle from the outside; two Phillips screws. Not sure what purpose the filter serves but mine was totally clogged. After cleaning & refitting, bingo, no more cut out problems; not yet anyway.
