How should I go about fixing this?

Hi Guys,

My landladies house has a slight guttering problem which the guys doing the wall insulation said they would sort out but either they didn't or didn't do a permanent fix.

As money is tight, I'm up for giving it a go as long as its doable with a normal ladder and common tools equipment.

The problem:

When its raining most of the water drips onto the ground next to the porch where it forms a deep puddle due to lack of drainage.

I notice the downpipe isn't plastic and I don't think its cast iron but some other material.

Would appreciate any advice on the correct way to fix this.

Looks like an aluminium rainwater pipe.
connect the pipe back into the running outlet and fix the swan neck/ offset bend into place with either lead or linseed oil putty.

Or drill a hole through both outlet and rwp and fix with a self tapping screw.

that downpipe looks like asbestos to me i wouldnt drill it or touch it without gloves and a mask on

Definitely asbestos. If you are pulling it around then wet it first (or paint it). and wear a mask.

Oops, I did tap it a couple of times with my finger... sounded like cast iron but didn't look like it

Ok, not what I wanted to hear but what now?

I guess the best longterm but most expensive option would be to get a professional in to replace it.
Now, I'm going to have to check the rest of the external pipework but from memory it looks similar.

Are these asbestos pipes 'safe' as long as they're not disturbed/damaged - do they degrade and release their fibres/spores? Does water erode them at all?

Bit concerned now.....
