nissan almera 2004 anti squeal plate(shim)

hiya all well i got my new blue print pads ready to fit with new discs on the rear of my almera .when i looked at the new pads they dont have a new shim plate. the shims on the old pads are rusted to nothing falling apart.i phoned up where i bought them from and they rang there suppliers and they said you dont need it thats why we dont supply it .just wondered if anyone else had this problem im wondering if i will have noise problems from the brakes if the pads have not got this one plate on them .thanks paul

I have EBC Green Stuff all round my V6 Astra and neither of the front or rear pads have shims. Some pads do, usually OE or cheaper aftermarkets but I can't say I've seen many higher end ones have them.

ok cheers thanks for that think as they came around side they might have been an indicator for when pads got worn mostly rust now falling apart.hopefully i wont have problems without them
