Hi,

My first post but I have been a lurker for a couple of years....

I've just started to re-decorate my new house and am currently chasing cable runs in the spare room before I replaster. I want to install a TV socket in the room which will obviously need a power socket near by. Can I run the 2.5mm2 ring cable in the same conduit as the coax or will this cause interterance/ be against regs?

I was going to use a dual flush KO box for the aerial and a single power outlet and was hoping to only have to chase a single channel...

Many thanks...

i have done this several times with no problems. I have never come across a situation where the mains has interfered with the picture. The co-ax has a braided screen which blocks most electrical noise. as for the regs this is perfectly acceptable.

I would not recommend it.

Not only may you encounter interference problems, especially if you use low grade coax, it may also break the segregration regulations.

its against the regs to put selv (coax in your case) cables in the same conduit as lv(MAINS) end of.

there is also the saftey aspect

its a possibility that they have crappy tv's but taking that they are worth 2k each (the tv's that is) i dont think they should be that bad.

it's a no no running mains and coax in same place

you can run tv and coax same way, but not mains

seperation of voltages

Thanks for all the replies. Time to make some more dust with the angle grinder.....

So is it ok to use a dual backbox for the tv outlet and a 13A socket (with two conduit feeds) or should they be completely separate?

Thanks again.
