Hi

I bought a fused switches for my electric panel heaters so i could do away with the plug and channel all the wires neatly into the wall

I have connected the switch up to an existing socket on the ring main

I have the ring main connected to the live, neutral, earth into the (IN) connectors and the heater the same but on the load side

The instructions say this is the way to do it and i know this is right but the light on the switch doesn't light up and the heater wont work

I've tried new fuses and nothing I've tried making the connections the best they can be and still nothing

Is there something I'm missing or is it more likely a dodgy fused switch if it is i bought 2 and they both wont work

Arghh please help as I've already channelled the walls and wanna complete before my dogs decide they will dig out my walls before i cover and fill over

thanks for any replys

Check your connections in the socket.
Sometimes when trying to get three wires in each terminal one might come loose. They may have to go in further than you thought. Tighten them well.

I suppose the fuse is alright???

It's unusual to have an in terminal for the earths.
Do you have a photo you can upload of the S/FCU showing the terminals please.
You also need to check that you do have a live supply and the circuit is operating as it should.

I haven't got a multimeter to hand and have to get it from my dads

I took all wires out and put them back as one in each terminal tightened and hey presto it works the only thing is the light on the switch isn't working not a major biggy.

I feels so stupid now after such a simple thing.

Thanks guys for your help and speedy replies
Usually have towait a week on forums defo the best I've come across.

:D

The terminals are held in place by 2 screws and the earthing strip runs across the terminal block. I can't get it off without breaking the switch.

I'll have to live with it.

Unless there's a way of getting to it.

Did you said you had two of the neon SFCUs, if so swap them and see if you still have the problem with the neon indicator.
