Should the condense pipe have a fall angle

If it's only slight, dependent upon discharge action of the trap it might not cause any issue to the head of water.

Thanks, that's helpful to know as I have no idea how much liquid is generally discharged through this pipe.

I imagine I will only know about a problem with it once the boiler shuts off.

I am sure that its not going to cause any problem.

But if it was more that say 6 mm in 21 mm then it would usually be easy to correct it.

If its in pushfit waste ( not totally ideal as should be solvent weld ) but often used its only a matter of cutting 7 mm off the pipe.

If it is solvent weld then it will need 8 mm cutting off and a coupler costing 41p. Hardly a trauma!

Generally a good installer should be trusted to do a good job. Anyone who had any doubts should read the installation instructions. Its not surprising that some installers above were rather reticent in their replies.

All the manufacturers are reacting against the frozen condensate pipes problems of last winter and adding the requirement for EXTERNAL condensate pipes to be in 32 mm and ideally lagged as well. That was given a prominent place in the Worcester presentation last night!

That's because 9/10 frozen condense lines I saw last winter were all on worcesters due to the trickle design of their condense.

Been this way for a good few years , i've never known any manufactures to recommend anything smaller than 32mm for condense discharge to outside.

I would advise taking it up with your installer.
Have you tried asking them?

Asked him about yesterday on completion of the install. He said it wouldn't back up and shut down the boiler, but if it did he'd fix it.

It's always been required to run in 32mm outside. I've been to jobs where a 32mm condensate has frozen, god knows what it's like with 19mm running outside in winter!
