Why My Old Kenmore Washing Machine Needs Hot Air to Start

I have Kenmore washing machine of 80 vintage, which needs, hot air to be blown for about half an hour and then it starts running smoothly or else makes loud noise as if all gears are going to break apart. Once it starts running it functions perfectly, however at times it trips when you have to stop the machine and restart a few times for smooth running. When it is noisy it leaks water or else there is no puddle. Our local tech are not able to solve the problem, I seek help as I don't want throw a working machine.

This points to the capacitors in the Power supply, being low, and leaking electrolyte.

Also blowing hot air, might make a dry joint fluid again, for a while, which might explain the intermittant useage. Look for dry joints.

When noisy, suggests a motor fault, and leaking water, doesn't add up. A cooled motor on startup=nothing.

They tend to have mechanical gearboxes, many have inductors for starters.
