I've Looked through all the postings sent by members of the group but I cannot find anything that relates to my problem. So hopefully someone can give me guidance.
My friend's children have access to the family PC ad hoc and must have been visiting PS2 cheats sites, (nothing more sinister than that I'm assured). He asked me to look at it and after a matter of seconds it was obvious that the system was so clogged up with spyware etc. For instance, I couldn't open any application after boot up. The system froze, task manager couldn't close anything. The only way to shut down the computer was by turning off the power. So I thought the only option was to re-format the Hard Drive and he agreed.
I d'loaded DriverguideToolkit in preparation for the 'big wipe out' but when I booted up the PC with the intention of saving driver information I couldn't open anything at all. So formatting went ahead full steam.
All went well, he had the Win XP disk and product key and a Mobo disk.
However several small faults are unresolved and I can't identify them. Showing up yellow in Device manager are;
PCI Simple Communication Controller . . I think this is the Modem
USB Device . . I've no idea
Video Controller (VGA Compatible)

Also
Is there a driver for the graphics card; GeForce4 Ti 4200with AGP8x . .I've Googled/Driverguide but I can't find one.

And, I've tried to d'load the driver for VIA VT8366/A - VT8367 from the mobo site but the chipset ID number only goes up to 8365, so I can't get any further with that.

Thanks in advance

Go Here for you graphics driver, they have one bundle for most of their cards these days.

As for your modem, haven't they got the original disk? No? Tell them to buy a new one!!

When you get online goto windows update for you USB fix.

It's a nVidia graphics card, you can get the driver from www.nvidia.com

If you got the disk for the mobo most drivers should be on there, no?

Thanks to you both for the advice but I'm a little hesitant to d'load the GeForce drivers from the site that you suggested, I did visit the same site last night. The reason being is that their ID Number doesn't seem to correspond with card that's installed in the machine. e.g. my card is 4200, the d'load is for a much higher value.
I could well be wrong because I'm certainly no expert but I do want to get it right for my friend.
I'm still stuck with the other problems so any help would be appreciated

Thanxalot for all help.

I had a problem with my modem and XP as well, think it's a common problem. Can't you open the case and have a look at what modem it is then download it from Driverguide? Or the manufacturer's website.

Thanks for the effort, I've found the drivers for the modem and chipset, this evening.
All I need now is to identify the USB device and find the correct driver for the graphics card; VIA VT8366/A, VT8367 Apollo KT266/KT333
128Mb DDR.TV OUT.

Thanks for trying

Oddsocks, nivida do like a suite of drivers for all their cards. I you download it it will identify and install the correct driver for your card. :)
