Parquet floor results - advice needed

Hi,

I have just repaired and sanded 105sqm of pitch pine parquet. Considering how badly damaged it was, it has come up really well. However, after finishing with hard wax oil, it has gone a bit dark and orangey. Is there any way to avoid this? I have included a picture of a sanded, untreated floor which has a nice light colour, and a picture of the treated floor. Any help much appreciated.

Am a bit pushed for time as all the repairing loose blocks and gap filling was a big job. May have to just live with the colour, but would prefer a more natural, light look.

That's the natural effect of a natural finish on pine: it bring out this characteristic feature of this wood-species.
Oak will turn more honey colour (yellow in some eyes), pine orange.

Ok. Is there a way around it? Using lye on the wood or sealing with pu rather than hard wax oil? Or will it just always turn orange because it's pine?

Or do I just live with it? It's a fairly large area so it's a lot of floor to look at every day if I don't like it. It is a stunning floor and looked perfect before the oil went on.

Haha yeah the pictures don't give you a great idea what they look like. It looks smart with the oil on, just a bit gloomy and orange like a school dinner hall rather than a gym (which is what it's going to be).

As far as I know the dilemma is always:

a) Leave untreated and the wood is light but gets dirty quickly
b) Treat it ( with anything I believe) and it gets darker.

you will have to sand to bare wood again and apply lye before oil
