Hi There

Am about to buy all the materials to lay a floating engineered wood floor in my living room.

I have allowed for the quadrant edge trim all the way around the perimeter.

My stairs start in the living room, and the bottom stair has a curved end to it, so one end is square against a wall, and the other faces to the living room and is circular, radius of approx 100mm I'd say

How would I typically run my trim around this curved edge? are there special profiles that you can buy?

thanks!
Nick

Hi Nick,
This is a tricky one. There are only three ways I can think of.
1) Steam the beading you are using by making up a simple small steam box.
2) Make lots of small saw cuts in the back of beading so that it will bend without breaking on the front face, but this may require filling on the top edge and then sanding down as it does not always bend perfectly.
3) Layer small bendable strips about 3mm thick around the curve until they reach the desired thickness. But obviously this will not give you a moulding shape but if you used the same laminated strips from the other side of the stairs you could make a feature of it along the full length of the riser.

I would be happy to give additional help or info about steaming if you require.
Steve.

Thanks guys,

I think I'm going to stop the beading short of the stairs and try and get the flooring tight enough to have the carpet slightly fold over the edge of the boards
