Hello all!
I'm new here and looking for some advice if possible.
We have a rather old boiler, Glow worm swiftflow 100.
The fan has gone and so the boiler is currently not working, leaving us with no heating or hot water. I wondered if anyone on here could give me an idea as to how much it should roughly cost for someone to get the part and come and fix it, so parts and labour. Don't want to get ripped off.
Thanks in advance :D

I was fitting these boilers in the nineties so you might want to think about upgrading as they were not the best boilers ever made.
The pump is about £150 + though there are a few on the bay of fleas

Some people dont know the difference between the pump and the fan!

Those fans work 24/7 and if not serviced every year get covered with dirt.

Usually they can just be cleaned. But running dirty they are unbalanced and the bearings wear.

The fan is quite expensive and the last one that I did came to about £260 at the weekend.

They are very reliable boilers but do need the fan cleaning every year !

Re-con from CETLTD for around £70 plus fitting (and safety checks) of say £60 - £100 assuming the rest of the boiler and gas installation ok.

A repaired fan is NOT a manufacturer's approved part and is therefore illegal to be fitted to a gas appliance!

Not a problem to fit a recon fan , is it illegal to strip , clean and lubricate?

Gas regs are a joke...repaired parts can be better quality than the originals.
