GET Grid switch dimmer module for LED's

Having now waited for a couple of weeks for my wholesaler to supply all the grid switches I needed engraving AND supplied them with my requirements

I discovered at 3pm this afternoon as the last of the light was fadeing away that the GET dimmer modules they had supplied are not actually capable of diming LED lights!!!

After having used as much ungentlemanly language as neccessary i find myself in need of your folks broad knowledge

Do GET (or Schneider) make a grid module that is capable of diming LED lights?

I have had a shufty on the web but to no avail :(

I would have thought its more to do with the drivers and whats stated on them.
Some newer drivers work with standard dimmers leading or trailing edge nowadays
 
hi Rocky, there's no info on the drivers, these are dimmable LED's @240v. Total load on each dimmer will be 24w in total.

Before I realised the supplied dimmers were not suitable I had already connected them, they partially dimmed the lamps but would not turn off!!!
 
Hi, FYI, dimmers operate by turning current on and off in frequency, not by reducing current or voltage. your dimmers may need a certain energy to get them working, can you change the lamps while you get more suitable ones engraved?

You'll be needing what is known as a "LOW LOAD DIMMER".
These work for loads as low as 24watts - designed for dimming dimmerable CFLs so you would need to check if they work with your LEDs.

I haven't seen any low load dimmer grid modules though.....
 
Low energy lamps and dimming is a nightmare.

Before investing any real money it is a good idea to test out the lamp and dimmer combination on the bench.

Standard CFLs are designed to produce the best light output irrespective of the mains voltage supplied so in theory they cannot be dimmed by the conventional means of chopping the mains waveform. If the voltage is low they take more current. If the voltage is chopped the CFL will take as much current as they need while there is voltage and it is only when the dimmer limits the current during these current pulses that the dimming starts to be apparent as the CFL cannot pull all the current it needs for maximum light.

LEDs can be dimmed as their light output is directly proportional to current through the LED but this has to be in the LED driver to be most effective.
