Hello All, help or advice please.

I have a double glazing window unit and the handle has snapped off. I can still open and shut the window with a bit of manouvering, but the handle does need replacing. The handles are ESPAG type.
As the units are 20 years old I doubt I will get same for same new, so I intend to use a handle from the garage window, which is never used and replace the duff one.
I have tried removing the handle by unscrewing the lower screw in the handle, but the handle unit remains more or less fixed. I think with a bit of leverage it would come out, but I do not want to smash it with undo force.
Is there only one screw holding it in? or is there an additional clip in place?
Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the replies and advice.
The top screw WAS hidden by a solid brass cap which I thought was part of the handle. Had to use a knife to remove, to damaged to replace.
I started removing the handle and noticed a keyhole shaped spring, could you tell what this is for before I pull the whole lot out.
Thanks again
