My Mums Baxi Bermuda W is working well but she would like the burners replaced, can anyone tell me where we can find any please?

She cannot afford a new boiler and is happy with her current Model which works fine.

Thank you

Thank you for taking the time to reply

Mum is now 87 and is worried they may need changing as she was told when it was serviced recently that all is fine but the burners may need to be replaced at some time and she would have a job to find them. She lives in Wales and I am starting the hunt now, in the hope we may be able to source them before she does actually need them.

By burners do you mean the white radiants on the fire.If so should still be avialable

Thatbwas my immediate thought!

Radiants are avialable for the W, W2 and W3. The same one is used on the first 2, but a different one on the 3rd, so make sure you have the right one.

You'll probably find whole boilers/fires going cheap on ebay, so buy one for bits.

Sorting ebay by 'nearest first' would probably be best and you can get it to email you when new items are listed.

Thank you expert gasman & namsag!!! it is kind of you to answer and so quickly too. Yes it is the white things (yes that's womans language for burners) which she thinks may need to be replaced. I have not got any other details other than it was bought in about 1980 and there is a W near where she switches on the fire.

I feel we are definitely getting somewhere and appeciate all your help

These would not normally fail on their own!

They often get broken when removed for cleaning ( by an engineer hopefully ).

There is little point in buying some when its unlikely to ever need replacing. Even if they did there are many still available and so many being taken out each year.

I have some slightly used ones in my store but I did not note what they came out of. I would just match them side by side.

Hi there agile (although how you can be beats me when you seem not to be able to sleep!!)

I am going to read your e mail to my Mum and I think it will alleviate any worries she may have about needing to replace them.

Maybe the engineer who serviced it was looking for more business and is hoping she will install a new system. She has mentioned she may need to change her radiators so perhaps he has suggested she needs to modernise the lot!

It is difficult to do much from her in France when she is in Wales so your words of wisdom have been much appreciated.

Thank you

The normal reason for replacement is, as Agile says, breakage, or sootiness. If they are sooty, the injectors and burner requires cleaning, which HOPEFULLY was done propoerly on the service.

If the radiants are not broken, uncleanably sooty or lost all the internal spiky surfaces, they don't need changing.

The first 2 models use T2 or T200 radiants, I cant recall which.

If the middle 2 radiants are getting a bit brown, they can always be swapped with the outer ones, this will eventually give a more even look.
I think I understand her engineers point, but radiants which aren`t used and are kept stored are far more likely to get lost or broken.

To all the wonderful kind people who have taken the time and effort to respond to my query I would like to say a very big THANK YOU

Having just spoken with my Mum we now have a very contented 87 year old Welsh Woman who says you have put her mind at rest.

Thank you all so much for your responses
