Hi,

I just moved into a flat. It has double glazed upvc windows. I have noticed that 2 windows have gaps in between the window and the frame at the top, as if the windows have dropped thus draft coming in. The other windows also have draft coming in.

These windows were installed by the previous owner through a company called Price Rite Windows in 2008. They are supposed to be guaranteed for 10 years and I also have a copy of the FENSA certificate.

My question to you gentlemen is that are these defects covered in the guarantee or by FENSA..?? So basically can I get the company to repair them for free or not..??

This is my first property so I am not very well versed in these matters..your help will be much appreciated..!!

Thanks
Sidd

I agree with HERTSDRAINAGE2010, some companies will not pass on the guarantee to a new home owner as the original is sometimes only held on the initial window purchaser. I would contact the company and they may, as a gesture of goodwill, adjust your windows hoping for some add on work? If not a local window repair company could toe and heel your windows in a couple of hours so they line up with their outer frames...or replace hinges etc. A large window company I know of will transfer the paperwork for around 25 pounds inc the guarantee.
