Bunkum. Fuses can (and still are) fitted. In fact at times they may be preferable to circuit breakers, e.g. for discrimination (selectivity) purposes on distribution circuits.

^^^^ Precisely. Circuit-breakers might account for the majority of newly installed boards in domestic systems these days, but fuses are still being used.
im not talking about industrial applications here..I fit new boards all the time in the factory which use cartridge fuses..That would be called a distribution board. Ive yet to see a 17th edition CU with the facility to accept cartridge fuses or rewireable fuses. Please show me if im wrong..id like to see (im not being sarcastic - i have never seen one)

Maybe not rewirable, but lots of makers produce compatible cartridge fuse modules.

These Hager fuse carriers look like a solution to a problem I have. Does anyone know where a mere mortal can actually buy these?
