The kitchen and bathroom have both got existing coloured paint on the walls (the proper bathroom paint) but now my wife has decided she would like a lighter colour for each.

Should I paint the walls first with a cheap white emulsion, then use the coloured 'special paint' again ?

thanks

ps Colour changes are ... Kitchen, will be bright orange to a light beige colour. Bathroom, from a blue colour to white.

they should cover in no more than 3 coats if using a decent trade paint. i wouldn't opt for a cheap white emulsion for the first coat.

If the paint systems already applied in either kitchen or bathroom have a sheen finish, you should first lightly sand and dust off prior to application.

Painting the kitchen and bathroom with a lighter color can make them more decorative. Before using the special paint you should paint the walls first with a white emulsion. Thanks.
