Header Tank

because the tank area was wet, I have a towel around so it doesn't leak onto my bathroom ceiling :)

you should only have 1 connector below water level.
the other willbe an overflow at the top.

are you a professional plumber and would you drive to Surrey to sort this out for me?

Praise be for plastic tanks :p
If the tank is resting on a piece of chipboard though, this material will swell and disintegrate pretty quickly.
If its feasible, wipe around the bottom of the tank, and you'll see a water dribble from the offending coupling - usually an inch or so up from the bottom.

I have tissues around the joints of the tank and it doesn't seem to be leaking from the joints as it was 2 weeks ago

Personally I've never had a fractured plastic tank - I think they'd pour water big time....
As seco says, normally there's one fresh water inlet at the top, an expansion pipe that curves over the tank itself and one outlet near the bottom. The overflow is also at the top, but below the level of the water inlet.
Please check again, but don't move the tank at all in case it bites you back.
John :)

move the tank are you joking :) I will investigate again albeit I dislike going up into the loft...... :(

The tanks are actually only sitting there due to the pipe connections and the weight of the water within....a small one like this is easily shifted as you grab it to prevent your foot going through the ceiling below.... :p
Mind the spiders! In my rural area they are the size of birds - albeit chilled ones at the moment :p :D
John :)
