Hi Huys Hope somebody can help me out here, firstly I know there are major issues with this boiler and i have searched to death to find a solution but to no avail.
I have the above boiler which has PCB problems, but my boiler has already been replaced with the latest Siemens 5111603 enclosed PCB but i seem to be having intermittent lock out problems lately. I get a variety of flashing orange light sequences but cannot find a manual to tell me what they mean?
So does anybody have a link to a manual for this PCB, do these latest PCB's also tend to fail, is there another issue that could be causing it?

Cheers in Advance Dave

If you tell us the exact fault code sequence then we can tell you what it relates to.

However, its likely to be a gas/combustion fault on which we dont give DIY repair advice so you will probably need to get an engineer.

These new PCBs only VERY rarely fail. Some are changed but I suspect this is usually because the real fault has not been properly diagnosed.

Totally understand that certain parts are for gas safe people only to work on, I will note down the sequence next time it fails, for the moment im actually warm as its working, thanks for the quick reply:cool:

Whilst im waiting patiently for it to go wrong again, may I ask another question regarding the overheat stat and temp stats that are screwed into the pipework, are these screwed into a sealed pocket or will they require the system to be drained down to change.

I did read somewhere that these are a fairly cheap part to change and have been known to cause problems :?:
Thanks again.

Ok Heres an update is this normal:

Room stat turned down low so not calling for heat.
Boiler temp control is turned to about 75% but boiler light is flashing orange and does nothing.( Orange flashing light means external call for heat but temp control is set to off) I think?

turn room stat up and boiler fires up fine and rads heat up

Then boiler stops and light starts to flash orange again, room stat is calling for heat but boiler does not light but if you turn the room stat down so it stops calling for heat and then back up again the boiler lights up
WEIRD

programmer and roomstat are both British gas labelled but look like Drayton ones, not sure on age as only moved in in June. Pu,mp works fine, tank stat and room stat both switch the 3 way valve fine.

Any ideas thanks guys

worst boiler ever made, ours has been nothing but problems, even after having the new circuit board thingy.

the light on ours is always faint red / flickery. but it seems to be heating the water and radiators at the moment so leaving well alone.

It's either in Infra red mode or the PCB is faulty again. It will run indefinately in this state. The only problem being you won't know what it's doing or if it's stopped and showing a fault code.

Apart from the PCB the Suprima is a great boiler, one of the few that will do 20+ years if moderately looked after.

Only way you will know for sure is to confirm 240v at the switched live when you expect it to be heating.

Christ only knows, never looked into it as it's not something i believe will be useful to me.

Just leave yours be if you want, a mate has had his running for 2 years with the red light flickering.

Well the boiler has limped through Christmas cutting in and out with a mind of its own but at least its still working, I have done a bit more investigation and I now can confirm that when there is a call for the boiler to fire up, eg hot water or room stat calling for heat, there is 240volts at the swithched live on the boiler so it is getting a signal to fire up.
However it doesnot always fire up, it just sits there with an orange flashing light and no amount of fiddling or resets will get it to fire. Then all of a sudden out of the blue WHOOSH it lights and works fine.

Any more ideas guys cheers

Yes, but they all involve opening the combustion chamber which we dont give DIY advice on.

If its mostly working best left alone!

To get it out of this mode hold the reset down for at least 10 secs! ;)
