Hi im just after a little confirmation really .
I had an f13 fault come up on this boiler ,checked all plugs and connections all ok so replaced the pcb , now im getting an f1 fault code, the boiler has a strong ignition spark and allows a small puff of gas through to the blast chamber but it fizzles out really quickly.
So really the question is does the gas valve need to be changed also ?
regards
Tarby

Have you checked the correct settings of the PCB and user interface

The Glowworm range of these boilers have had a pcb and user interface upgrade mixing and matching the two can cause the f1, f13 fault.

Keep in mind that from the phrasing of your post you may not be qualified to make the adjustments needed to set the combustion of this boiler and are at great risk of causing problems to the gas settings. The controls boards adjust the fan and gas rates of this boiler be careful and use a trained proffesional it cheaper in the long run.

Tarby, from your postings you clearly spend a lot of your time fixing heating systems.

In that case you should be Gas Registered !

Nobody should be changing a PCB with gas settings unless they are registered and in many cases have a gas analyser.

We are not permitted to give advice on Gas/combustion matters here and you should register for and ask in the Combustion Chamber of this site.

I am gas safe registered . but am not a wise old sage like some people and so dont have all knowledge about everything.
so you are permitted to to give advice if you so wish.

And the point im trying to put across is that the pcb has been changed now and has cleared the f13 fault but after the start up of the boiler there is ignition but no combustion apart from a small puff of gas no full ignition. So was just asking for some advice to see whether someone else had come across this.

yes about once a week where the engineer has not set the boiler up correctly installing the new board. Check the paper work that came with the board. Check also that the connections to the pcb as it is very easy to put them in the wrong way up.

Thanks ratonastick.
i fitted the pcb as instructed on the paperwork . Was a little confused about the jumper connection. But going throught the actual boilers paperwork there is no fan transformer on this boiler. G.C 41-047-75.
This is a British gas boiler rather than a standard glowworm.
I would love to know which boiler out of the HXi ,CXi or sxi this is....

The 15 Hxi is the closest to it but Glowworm can give you all the tech support you need as the settings change for different models in the range. Fan speed settings must be checked and set when installing new boards.

GAS SAFE REGISTRATION ONLY DEEMS SOMEONE TO BE SAFE TO WORK ON GAS!!!!! FAULT FINDING SHOULD BE A SEPARATE CATOGORY COS FITTING BOILERS AND WORKING ON THEM ARE COMPLETELY SEPARATE AREAS OF GAS AND THEY SHOULD ONLY BE WORKED ON BY THOSE WITH THE THE KNOWLEDGE.
SORRY TO BE RUDE MATE BUT, YOU CLEARLY HAVE CHANGED A PART WITHOUT THE UNDERSTANDING!!!!!

 sorry guys, new to all the forums, had a couple of people pick this up, not trying to be funny, only trying to help, hope i've not offended anyone, cheers

Well I'm sorry but you have caused offence ! I thought these forums were help imPart knowledge to others not to slate them for not knowing . I'm sorry I obviously wasn't born with the immense amount of information about fault finding the YOU obviously were ! You only learn by being taught . I asked merely because I had fault found that there was an issue with the pcb but now a new issue has arisen and I don't know what's causing it. So my sincerest apologies to anyone I have caused offence to by asking a question and I shall only return when I know everything there is to know about everything . !!!!

But if you are an RGI then you should be asking in the CC not the plumbing forum where gas advice is not allowed
