Hello ppl

I have a vaillant ecotec 637 system boiler with a megaflow cylinder.

Today I drained the system and turned turned off and isolated the incoming mains into the house and the hot water leaving the cylinder. So that I could remove my bath taps and 2 radiators.

At the end of the day I opened up my stop cock allowing cold water back into the house I then open the hot water feed out of the cylinder and then refilled the system while the boiler was still switched off.

I then went and turned my boiler on and everything was fine.

About 2hours later I noticed the pressure on the system had dropped down to just below zero so refilled and began looking for leaks, I couldnt find any leaks so went out to the boiler and saw the boiler room filled with water and a steady stream of water leaving the boiler.

After lifting off the boiler cover it appears that above the pump is a gold cylinder looking thing that is leaking.

Does anyone know what has caused this or what it is?

Below is a link to what looks similar to mine, the gold topped cylinder is to the top right of the photo

As you can see its that gold cylinder with the black valve on top, ive just hand tightened that valve and it seems to have stopped leaking

There is a good chance it's your Auto air vent. the round gold thing that is leaking, due to it being stuck/dirty.
Drain down again and clean it. I have not been on this site in a while now so let me know of the outcome.

Thanks for your replies

How do I remove it, im guessing from the base of it?

Cheers

for a temporary measure just screw the cap down. till you get a new one.

Its easier to just replace the works by unscrewing the knurled part!
