Hi all,

Can anyone advise if it's possible to:

a) Replace the seals around a double glazed window between the glass and the frame
b) Are these seals available in colours other than black?

The windows are pretty old - they're a solid timber frame, with white plastic for the movable parts where they open.#'

I suspect the windows have some kind of a gasket? I've managed to remove a test piece, but only by tearing the thing! What came off looked like a solid triangular profile, and the bit that's left inside the frame now just pushes loosly into the frame, but there's no way I can pull the thing out to see what shape it is.

I'm guessing it's something like this:

Many thanks folks,

Do the seals actually need replacing? With old windows you could create a whole mess of work & agro you don’t really need & you may regret you ever started; the old adage, “if it ain't broke why try & fix it” springs to mind! ;)

The frames are currently dark stained wood, which we're about to paint white, but I'm worried it'll be difficult to paint around the black seals, and I think the stripper I've used to get the stain / varnish out may have affected the seals. :S
