If you were jetting off somewhere say, who would you like to be captain of your aircraft if something were to go wrong. A cool calm Brit? ice cold technical German or a hot blooded hand waving Italian?

I think if the Titanic had had a different crew there would possibly have been fewer survivors.

The calmness of the Brit, the technical ability of the German and the hot blooded determination of the Italian all rolled into one please :)

Each has their own merit and may be ideally suited for different mishaps. Thus, it may well be the case (how could we ever know) that a colour blind, deaf, wrong footed Chinese/Swedish crossbreed would have missed the iceberg completely and the Titanic would still be running to this day.

So, something has now gone wrong with the crew on the flight deck, and a call goes out to the passengers asking if any of them wish to attempt to land the plane at the nearest airport. Three people come forward, 1) An alcoholic lorry driver who is renowned for hogging the middle lane of the motorway, whilst weaving from lane to lane and tailgating 2) A plumber on the verge of a nervous breakdown and 3) an engineer who always knows best, who is always right even when he is wrong.

Who would you select to fly the plane?

Would that be because of his disabilities he would be unable to find land, even after all this time?

I wouldn't be bothered as long as they could fly the damn thing.

Both of my near miss plane crashes were piloted by ice cool pilots. One Brit, one Kiwi.

Part of Titanics problem was the fact the crew , or most of the crew WERE Brits ! Captain Smith who was on his last voyage before retiring wanted to make an impression by trying to beat the fastest crossing time Bruce Ismay , a White star man through and through , on having being told that there was a fire in one of the coal bunkers BEFORE she left Ireland bound for NY insisted she still had to sail. Despite numerous warnings of pack ice , she still maintained her speed , the lookouts did not have binoculars , and the Marconi radio officers were to busy sending personal messages to Cape Race to take notice of the continued ice warnings. Added to this recipe for disaster , there were not enough lifeboats on board due to her being 'unsinkable' and they would not be needed. History tells us what happened that night.................and through the sheer arrogance of the Brits ignoring all warnings and advice , although they didn't directly cause it , they certainly didn't help the situation.

Are you looking for a husband

If this were summertime I'd try the garden shed first, especially if he has a barrel of sherry out there.

But, since this is winter and most sheds aren't heated, you're more likely to find him in the attic or, just possibly, in the bath with a can of Carlsberg Special ---

Which is why I said in another this forum has been decimated by someone who has nothing better to do than interfere with others banter.

What is racist about saying the Italian ships crew sailed into an Island that has always been there and does not have a habit of moving about when no one is looking?
