Contact Howdens customer services, if it is faulty it will still be under warranty>
What model is it, does it come with a child lock, where you can change settings?

Each ring will have a thermal limiter (to protect the glass from over heating).
Sounds like the calibrations are wrong on the limiters.
As said if its under warranty contact supplier.

Gas hobs don't need thermal limiters to stop their pan supports from overheating.... ;)
