As to Handy's experience: let's think about this, taking the Janitor as an example:
He charges £100 a day. Now, to do a full-on top job of a typical living room would be what, two days prep, three days painting? So that is £500 labour.
Now, how much do you save by buying cheap wee-wee based paint compared to decent well-pigmented lovely paint? At most I reckon £50 in a room including the skirting, architraves and ceilings etc.
Does that make sense? I used to work in a merchant's and all the tradesmen got discounts INCLUDING painters and decorators. Which would mean they could get Dulux for little more than their customer would pay for the lower quality own-brand (as opposed to their "trade" ranges) in many sheds
