Hi guys,

I would like to clean out my shower trap but when I put my fingers down it I can't feel the hole where the water is supposed to drain to the waste pipe.

I can't figure out how the water drains away. Could someone explain this please?

Also, I have removed the silver cap part and another white thing which was inside the hole. Is the remaining part (as seen in photo)supposed to be removed.

Thank you

That part you don't remove that the trap body that fitted to the tray.
The waste hole willbe on the side of the trap body, the tube you have taken out is what forms the water trap depth.

Hi thanks seco services, is there another kind of design or something cause I cannot feel any hole.

I remember my last shower I could feel the hole and was able to stick a brush down to clean it out.

With this one I can't. Obviously the water is draining away somewhere but I just can't find the hole and I'm feeling a bit of an idiot cause I can't.

Do all trap bodies have a hole that is reachable or is there another design?

It go's down the tube out the bottom of the tube, the tube is not the full depth of the waste trap.

The tube sits below the water level, Thats what creates the water trap seal stops smells coming back up the trap from the waste, same as a toilet or basin etc.

We have the same problem but cannot access the other end of the drain or under the shower tray so need to try and open the waste trap to clear out the blockage. Could someone please explain how to do this. Thanks

Hi Chris Parker (or anyone reading this) - Have you solved your finding the drain problem yet? I have the same question. I'm trying to figure out how to access the drainage hole after I've removed the plastic immersion pipe. The drain has started to drain very slowly - even after cleaning out the immersion pipe.

The manufacturer is Viega and I've been looking on their web site but I think the model is older. I can only find instructions for new models that have plug on the side of the odour trap that can be unscrewed to easily access the drainage hole and waste pipe. Will I have to unscrew the 3 screws on the top to get to the drainage hole?

Here's a photo. Thanks in advance to anyone with any ideas!

does the odour trap lift out ,maybe turn slightly first ? I wouldn't undo the screws if you have no access to beneath the tray ,that could end up in total grief.

Thanks for the reply Terryplumb.

It looks like the lip of the odour trap fits in below that metal ring so there does not seem to be a way of lifting out unless metal ring comes out first.

Rather than take it all apart which is too scary, would a plunger work on this type of drain? I could try that first to see if the drainage flow improves.

plunger won't make an air tight seal on there .try one of the drain cleaning fluids
