laying bonnet tiles

Hello
Should clay bonnet tiles be bedded in as you go ? My roofer is currently nailing them down without bedding them in. I guess he is intending to bed them in once they are all nailed down.

sounds right to me - the hammering would jiggle the pug around and it`d sag out the front

Quite normal to lay them dry first and then add mortar

We always bed as we go, whilst using the two neighboring plains as a bottom edge guide and a centralizing guide.

What pitch is your roof??

You have 2 types of bonnet........Granny Bonnet or Semi-Bonnet.

One needs mortar....One dont.
