Just a thought. The South East is in drought conditions (due to total lack of investment in storage reservoirs). This summer will see thousands of athletes and freeloaders arriving in London and all wanting daily showers/baths. Can the Southern Water Authorities cope?

No probs - they'll hold some back for that crowd. You'll suffer when they've gone.

Starting a big job on easter, will have a hose running atleast 8 hours per day!
I hear about these droughts, but everytime i turn on a tap watervcomes out.
Sod em, Im gonna use the water before all the foreigners get here! ;)

I think more important are the reasons why the drought is occurring in the first place.

If thames water spent more on fixing there antique pipes there might not be such a problem. I have driven past 3 leaks in he past week, they where then left for at least 3 days before anything was done......
And they wonder why theres a drought!

They're not leaks - they're unintentional recharges of the aquifers :D

They have been for 3 years now or have you missed the holes dug and new blue pipes being laid?

45% of mains water is lost through leaks and burst water mains before it gets to the kitchen tap. Thames Water only admit to approx. only 30%.

I was told this by an area manager.

Why is there still so many leaks! They should have been doing this from yonks ago! They left it too long!

Dont ask me, but its taking years.
Been driving around all the road works for ages now!!
They are doing one section of London at a time.

Thames water made a totally complete b****cks of a sustainable water supply for the region it operates in. The owners are an arrogant stupid money grabbing idiots who know as much about water resources as a desert snake.
The Australian Banking investors paid at least 2 billion pounds too much for the company and have now caught a very bad cold over there inability to grasp the concept of looking at all the alternatives to large scale infrastructure.

I know the guy who beat the f out of them for their misunderstanding of a sustainable water supply. This was because their water engineering department was occupied by a bunch of college drop outs. Most were sacked.

Water water every where but not a drop to drink, wait five 5 yrs from now and watch your bill, they will do a gas and leccy.

Time to come back in to the discussion. Thames water is cheap and consequently low on investment income. SouthWest water by contrast have to pay for keeping the beaches clean for the rest of the country to come on holiday. Libby, you say wait 5 years, not for us in the SW! We are already there.

Thames water: £102 average bill

South West water £254.
