Thanks igorian, already tried that, wireless all enabled, sometimes it will connect, but signal bars in taskbar then has red cross on it.All works until I reboot, then problem starts again,no connection.(security settings dont match, etc) tried changing password, upper & lower case words all to no avail.Welcome any more suggestions,Regards

You'll need to describe the scenario in a bit more detail.

What laptop?
How far is the router from the laptop?
Has it ever worked successfully?
Windows updates up to date?
Are you sure it's connecting to your router and not another?
How much signal is there?

The more detail the better really.

Thanks for replies,Igorian the laptop is a Sony vgn-ns20,gets good signal,(have tried friends laptop on win7 that worked ok) windows updates all ok,def trying to connect to the right router, its just the Sony on win7 wont talk to the router, just as if I am putting in the wrong password. As I said tried different passwords, removed it on wireless networks, tried over & over no joy.The only way I might connect is by using the wps button, which by-passes the password, but that puts a red cross on signal bars, works ok till I shut down then have to go through the button process again to connect when I reboot.

Try changing the wireless channel on the router. The pre-mentioned program will help identify a "clear" one.

Thanks for your interest guys.Igorian I tried changing channels, using every one, including auto, still the same.I cant help thinking its a setting on the win7 laptop as three other computers connect ok! Guess Ill just have to give up...

Have you tried the laptop on other wireless networks?

All computers been running on netgear router no problems,Thought I'd upgrade to n type maybe improve the signal when (if) I sit out in the garden when summer comes! Regards

Maxsys the laptop works ok everywhere I've taken it,so the answer is yes,it just wont connect wirelessly to the hg532 n type router.Beginning to think it may be faulty router...

Beginning to think that myself, it's clearly not the laptop if it works everywhere else.

It might be worth checking to see if there is a firmware update for the router.

I used to have exactly the same problem with an old laptop of mine. After endless hours of swearing and googling I decided that I would buy a wireless dongle for less than a fiver, I installed that and hey presto it worked perfectly :p
